2025 Jr. YOY - Briella Martinez

Boys & Girls Club of Sweetwater County & the State of Wyoming Junior Youth of the Year is Briella Martinez. Martinez competed against 6 other Jr. Youth of the Year contestants around the state on October 3rd, 2025 to win the State title! Briella has attended the BGCSW since 2022. Briella is 13 years old and is an only child.  She has a great love for the arts and is always volunteering to test out a new art medium. The Club has helped her overcome her fear of dogs, after an accident as a young child.  Ted, the Clubs emotional support dog, has given her the support she needs to overcome her fear.  She enjoys volunteering with the Club and help out Club staff.

YOUTH OF THE YEAR


The Youth of the Year program dates back to 1947 and celebrates youth who have overcome enormous odds and demonstrated exceptional character and accomplishments. Those selected are recognized for service to their Club and community, academic performance and contributions to their families.

At the state competition Youth of the Year contestants are judged in several categories presented in written essays, an oral speech, and live interviews. In addition to the competition, the finalists are introduced on the floor of the state House and Senate, spend time with the Governor and members of his Cabinet including the Secretary of State, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and state legislators.
